Holland, Michigan
Home of Tulip Time, the third largest festival of its kind in the U.S. I'm not kidding. Trust me.
Holland is located in the western part of Michigan's lower penninsula.
Right on Lake Michigan, in fact, with a beautiful lakeshore area,
including the most popular state park in the Michigan. Nevertheless,
most people who come to Holland come for the tulips. And little kids
and bad high school bands on parade (I know, I was in one)....Scary,
ain't it?
De Zwaan,
Holland's very own imported Dutch windmill (the only authentic working
Dutch grain mill in the country. I know you don't believe me, but it's
true.) Complete with tourists.
The beach. Sorry about the weird orangey tone - bad
scan.
Here are the klompen dancers, included specially for
Rachel. :) Actually, I've done this, and it's a lot more fun to do
than to watch. It's especially fun to do if it's not Tulip Time, and
you're not in a parade. That way, people look at you real
funny. Wooden shoes are also good for gardening, I hear, and I
personally find them useful paper weights.
Flee!(Back to the
Kate & Kari Show, that is)
